Sports Weekend Update November 3

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Cameron Kerry
Andover Girls Cross Country defended its home course with a 22-33 win over Exeter on Saturday. Crossing the finish line first by a margin of more than two minutes, Anoush Shehadeh ’15 capped off an undefeated season. Peyton McGovern ’16 claimed a decisive third place finish, missing out on second by only two seconds.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Felipe Chamon
Ian Whittall ’14 and Ethan McIntosh ’15 finished with personal records of 16:02 and 16:11 to take first and third place respectively. Andover Boys Cross Country otherwise came up short against Exeter on Saturday.

FOOTBALL: Pranav Tadikonda
In its final game before the Andover-Exeter showdown, Andover defeated Worcester Academy 61-14. Ryder Stone ’14 led the team with three touchdowns. Andover, undefeated, and Exeter, currently 6-0-1, will face off this Saturday.

FIELD HOCKEY: Payton Jancsy
In its last home game of the season, Andover Field Hockey defeated Cushing Academy 1-0 on Saturday. The only goal of the game came off a shot from Eliza Quigley ’15 at the beginning of the second half. Despite the close score, Andover dominated all categories of play, outshooting Cushing 19-2 and holding Cushing to zero corners, compared to Andover’s 17.

BOYS WATER POLO: Ryan Simard
Andover Boys Water Polo ended its regular season on a high note with a 26-5 victory over Hopkins on Saturday. 13 total saves from Rome Arnold ’14 and Elliot Sagay ’15 and five goals from Co-Captain Travis Bouscaren ’14 helped the team bounce back from two consecutive losses. Andover looks to continue its success in the Final Four Tournament play-offs on Wednesday.

GIRLS SOCCER: Victoria Bergeron
Andover Girls Soccer ended another team’s winning streak for the third time this season with a 2-1 victory on Saturday against Pingree and goals from Co-Captain Hannah Guzzi ’14 and Katie Kreider ’14. On Friday, Andover tied Lawrence Academy 2-2 in a close, physical game under the lights. Caroline Shipley ’16 scored her first career goal in the beginning of the second half, but Lawrence came back from a 2-0 deficit in the last ten minutes to tie the score.

BOYS SOCCER: Staff Report
Andover Boys Soccer stayed undefeated with a 1-1 tie against Kimball Union Academy this weekend. Looking to avenge last year’s 3-1 loss, Andover took the first goal when Graeme Henderson ’14 converted a corner kick from Co-Captain Taylor Chin ’14 into a goal in the middle of the first half. Andover will face New Hampton at home this Wednesday.
